Fittest of Roseville Recap
This past weekend all of the CrossFit Roseville members involved including: the 12 athletes on the teams: “Space Monkey Mafia,” “Team Awesome,” and “The Smurfs,” the 6 Individual competitors, the judges (kathleen) and volunteers and photographers, even unto all of the members who came out to support the competition—all of you represented CrossFit Roseville honorably.
Every athlete gave their full measure of effort on the workouts. It was impressive to watch Sherry win 1st place in the 50+ division, Justin take 3rd place, and Team Smurf win 9 out of 10 scored events (with one 2nd place finish). Indeed it was impressive to see all of our athletes push themselves to new limits; to test themselves in an arena of uncertainty; to rise above self-doubt in order to strive for self-improvement.
Competition is a good reminder of two perspectives: the first being that no one is perfect and the second that we all have our own unique strengths. If in giving full effort we build our character and grow our relationships what more success can we hope for?
It is exciting to see the fire spread as members sign up for other local competitions (Moxie this weekend, the Goodtimes Fallfit team challenge next month, and all of the excitement for our first ever Ladies only competition on September 28th: the Women’s Gauntlet at CrossFit Roseville.
My favorite photo of the Fittest of Roseville event is this one below of Mark laid out in the moments right after the final workout of the day—proof of the success of the “man in the arena”!
